The aim of this book is to provide a unique reference resource on topology control in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, a topic that has been a subject of intensive research in recent years. Indeed, this research field is far from being settled, and several new results and proposals are being published. This explains why writing a book on topology control has been very challenging for me. I have done my best to include in the book the most significant results and findings in the field, while at the same time describing in detail the many problems that are still to be solved. While I have tried to be as exhaustive as I couldn presenting the topology control approaches introduced in the literature, the reader should bear in mind that what is reported in this book is a picture of this research field taken at the beginning of year 2005.
